Project Description
Construction of the $237 million Armadale Road to North Lake Road Bridge project, which is jointly funded by Australian ($189.6 million) and West Australian ($47.4 million) governments, which begun in 2019 and was completed in 2021 The project will enable road users to bypass the Cockburn Gateway shopping centre, addressing congestion at the Kwinana Freeway, Armadale Road and Beeliar Drive interchange by constructing new bridges, road upgrades, reconfigured roads and additional lanes.
LLWA was the main subcontractor for all Construction Material Testing on site during the project.
Technicians were on site daily completing Field testing with samples being transported back to our base laboratory for further testing.
Over 5000 samples were tested at our base lab over the period of the project including:
- Moisture Contents
- California Bearing Ratio
- Particle Size Distribution
- Perth Sand Penetrometer
- Dynamic Cone Penetrometer
- Organic Content
- Electrical Resistivity
- Maximum Dry Density – Standard and Modified
The contract was extended to include the Thomas Road Over Rail project. Which started in early 2022.
